Ivo Scarponi

Ivo Scarponi obtained his diploma in cello with the highest marks and a note of distinction at the “F. Morlacchi” Conservatory in Perugia, with Master Vito Vallini. He then specialised with Master Franco Maggio-Ormezowsky at the National Academy of S. Cecilia in Rome, brilliantly obtaining his diploma in 1995.

As a soloist he has played, amongst various others, the concerts by Boccherini, Haydn, Dvorak, the Mozart’s Symphony for string Trio and the Concert for clarinet and cello by Carlo Galante. Since 2005 he has been performing regular and intense concert activity in Duo with a pianoforte, in Italy and abroad (France, Spain, Belgium, Croatia, Norway, Poland). He was hosted in several music festivals, amongst which the Festivals in Oslo (Norway), Toledo and Molina (Spain), Liege (Belgium), Oxelaire (France) and Kotor (Croatia).
As a founding member, together with his father Ciro, of the Scarponi’s Quintet, Ivo has played for some of the main Italian Concert Associations (Quartet Society of Vicenza, Friends of the Music of Turin, Perugia and Udine, Tor Vergata University in Rome, Umbra Music Fair in Umbria Region, Agimus in Firenze), and abroad (Zurich, Geneve). He has performed radio recordings (for RAI and RSI), as well as CDs (Nuova Era, Ricordi), and he has carried out numerous performances in absolute opening presentations.

He has been the first cello in chamber and symphony orchestras (Umbria Orchestra, Camerata of Titan of S. Marino, ‘Sinfonia Perusina’, Symphonic Orchestra of Terni) and he collaborates regularly with the Philharmonics of Rome with Uto Ughi, The Aquilani Soloists, ‘Musica d’Oggi’ and with the Rome Sinfonietta with Ennio Morricone, both in Italy and abroad.
He won, with the Musicus Novus string Octet, national and international competitions: the City of Colleferro Prize (1998), G. Rospigliosi Prize (1999), Ligure City Prize (1999).
In 2008 he established the Raffaello Trio.
